Solar 2026 brings together up to 300 professionals from across the renewable energy value chain, including developers, energy producers, utilities, investors, technology providers, consultants, and public sector representatives, to explore the latest developments of solar energy in Finland and across the Nordics.

Held on 19 May in Helsinki, the event features an expert-led seminar followed by a cocktail reception and Networking Evening, offering a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration. Solar 2026 is the ideal setting for industry professionals to create new leads, share experiences, and stay ahead in the rapidly growing solar energy market.

Mikko is Team Lead for Clean Transition at FCG Finnish Consulting Group, working at the intersection of land use planning, permitting, and renewable energy project development. He has hands-on experience from developer-side projects and is particularly interested in how complex renewable energy projects are driven to completion.

Member of Parliament | Social Democratic Parliamentary Group

Does the sun shine in Finland? The path for more renewables and solar energy

Eveliina is serving her second term as a Member of Parliament. She represents the Social Democratic Party. She is also the Chair of the Helsinki City Council and a city councilor, as well as the mother of a young son.

In Parliament, she serves as a member of the Administration Committee, where she has the opportunity to influence matters related to local government and security in particular. In addition, she is a member of the Environment Committee, which is responsible for a wide range of legislation related to housing, the environment, and climate change. The presentation addresses the fight against climate change and Finland’s green transition, as well as how public investments can support the green transition, the adoption of new technologies, and productivity growth.

Anni Mikkonen

CEO | Renewables Finland

Beyond the Horizon: Navigating regulation of utility-scale solar in Finland

Anni is the CEO of the Renewables Finland since 2009. During her time the association and the importance of wind power in the Finnish energy sector have increased significantly. Anni is one of the leading wind power experts in Finland. She holds a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences (MSc) and in Corporate Environmental Management (M. Econ). 

Finland’s utility-scale solar market is entering a critical phase. This presentation explores where large-scale solar stands today and what lies ahead, focusing on regulatory evolution, land-use planning requirements, and their implications for project timelines and competitiveness in the Finnish energy transition.

Janne Peljo

Chief Policy Advisor | Confederation of Finnish Industries

Outlook of green investments in Finland in the light of ever-evolving EU climate policies

Janne works as the Chief Policy Advisor on Climate and Biodiversity at the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK). His focus is on the economic and policy dimensions of climate change and biodiversity, with the aim of supporting Finnish businesses’ long-term competitiveness through green growth. He has an unparalleled view on green transition investments in Finland as he hosts EK’s data dashboard of green investments in Finland. It very well complements the national and EU climate policy monitoring and advisory, which is his actual job. 

In Solar 2026, Janne will share insights on the outlook for green investments in Finland. The outlook looks promising, but how much of the planned investments will materialize and when? He will also reflect current and upcoming EU climate and industrial policies and their impact on Finland and the planned green transition investments.

Chief of Preparedness | General secretary of NESO Digipool

Panel discussion: Data, cybersecurity and resilience in modern energy systems

Antti serves as the Head of Preparedness at the Digipool, which is part of Finland’s National Emergency Supply Organisation. Digipool is a trusted network based on cooperation between companies and authorities, aimed at enhancing the digital security of society. Digipool develops continuity and risk management, as well as preparedness, within the ICT sector, and supports companies across other industries in ICT preparedness matters. Digipool is also responsible, among other things, for the TIETO exercises held every two years, in which information exchange within society is practiced in preparation for large-scale cyber, information, and hybrid disruption scenarios. Previously, Antti has worked in ICT software and service companies, where he held leadership roles in business units and was responsible for delivering critical solutions to clients.

Flexibility Business Developer | Fortum

How can BESS support the business case for new production and consumption?

With 10 years of experience in energy growth companies, Lotta now works with accelerating flexibility in a wide range of technologies and services in Fortum. 

The business case for BESS has been rapidly changing in the past years. In Solar 2026, Lotta explores some of the ways BESS can add value to new assets. She will describe the synergies BESS has with different types of assets and how that affects the value creation strategies of the BESS.

The building blocks of BESS feasibility have been rapidly evolving, but the benefits of co-location remain. 

Riku Merikoski

Senior Power Analyst | Axpo

The challenges of solar power in European power markets

Riku has been analysing the Nordic power market since 2012. He has previously worked in various power sector roles in Tampereen Sähkölaitos, SKM Market Predictor and Fortum before joining Axpo in March 2023. He is currently responsible for fundamental analysis of Nordic and UK power markets in Axpo headquarters in Switzerland.

The presentation will provide an insight to various challenges which solar power has faced over the last years in different European power markets. Among the topics are solar power data quality, value optimisation, cannibalisation effects, cross-border effects and subsidy side-effects.

Analyst | Hybrid CoE

Aleksi works as an analyst at the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats. Since joining the Centre’s Community of Interest on Vulnerabilities and Resilience in 2018, he has focused on how hybrid threats target vulnerabilities in various critical sectors of society, and how to build resilience. Aleksi has also contributed to the development of conceptual and analytical models for hybrid threats.

Solar PV in the Nordics: Deployment Trends, Market Drivers and Outlook

Victoria is an analyst on Wood Mackenzie’s Power & Renewables team, specializing in European utility-scale solar PV markets. With over three years at Wood Mackenzie, she produces installation forecasts across 20+ European markets and analyzes routes-to-market, regulatory frameworks, and contributes to LCOE projections. Victoria holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the Autonomous University of Madrid.

The presentation will provide an overview and outlook of solar PV deployment in the Nordic region, with a focus on Finland, analysing the key drivers and bottlenecks shaping these markets. It will also cover solar capture prices, the development of PPAs, the emergence of solar-plus-storage projects, electrification trends, and key solar supply chain developments, including module prices.

Ismo has over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity and compliance management across demanding international environments, from China and Silicon Valley to Iraq. His professional background also includes service in law enforcement, which has contributed to his practical and disciplined approach to security, resilience and incident response. Over the last seven years, he has focused on cybersecurity, compliance and connectivity in energy and other mission-critical environments. He is the developer of the new CSA (Compliance Security Architecture) model, presented by 3Flames as a framework for turning external compliance requirements and operational needs into practical security and architecture controls.

Team Leader | Norconsult / Kjeller Vindteknikk

How to boost project bankability with more accurate solar resource datasets for Finland

Sigbjørn is a Team Leader at Norconsult / Kjeller Vindteknikk and holds a PhD within Solar Energy. He is heading the R&D initiatives within wind and solar energy and specializes in solar resource assessments in the Nordics.  He leads research and commercial projects that aim to improve methodology to assess solar resource and auxiliary parameters to ensure lower uncertainty in energy yield assessments. Some of the main challenges are lack of quality data as conventional weather prediction models and data derived from satellite images have lower quality further north and cloudier climate. Sigbjørn will present how to navigate these uncertainties and provide pathways to boost bankability for solar projects in Finland.

Christian Breyer

Professor for Solar Economy | LUT University

Role and value for solar energy for the Finnish energy transition

Christian is Professor for Solar Economy at LUT University, Finland. His major expertise is the integrated research of technological and economic characteristics of renewable energy systems specialising in energy system modeling for 100% renewable energy, on a local but also global scale. Publications cover integrated sector analyses with power, heat, transport, desalination, industry, and negative CO2 emissions. The Power-to-X Economy comprises most of his research and 1.0⁰C pathways are increasingly investigated in addition to the 1.5⁰C standard.
