Power, Policy and Protection: What’s next for solar in Finland?

Finland’s solar market is accelerating but growth alone is no longer the main question. As projects scale, the focus is shifting toward regulation, investment certainty, and the security of increasingly digital energy systems.

At Solar 2026, policymakers, industry leaders, and security experts come together in Helsinki on May 19 to explore what it takes to turn momentum into a resilient and competitive solar market. New speakers have been announced so take a look on what’s coming:

Policy, regulation and investments shaping the market

The green transition is driven by a combination of political decisions, regulatory frameworks, and investment dynamics and all three are in flux.

Eveliina Heinäluoma, Member of the Finnish Parliament, opens the discussion with a policy perspective on how public investments, climate action, and decision-making can accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and support long-term economic growth.

Followed by Anni Mikkonen, CEO of Renewables Finland, she will take a deep dive into the regulatory landscape. As utility-scale solar projects move forward, land-use planning, permitting, and evolving regulation are becoming decisive factors for project timelines and competitiveness.

The final remarks of the opening session will be given by Janne Peljo from the Confederation of Finnish Industries, who will add a data-driven view on the outlook for green investments in Finland. While the pipeline is strong, key questions remain around how EU climate and industrial policies will influence investment decisions and how quickly plans will turn into reality.

Data, cybersecurity & resilience

As solar and energy storage systems expand, they are also becoming a crucial part of the critical infrastructure.

The panel discussion at Solar 2026 shifts the focus to data, cybersecurity, and resilience. As systems become more digital and interconnected, questions around control, access, and vulnerability come to the forefront: Who owns the data? Where does it flow? And how do these systems change the risk profile of the energy sector?

Bringing together top experts in cybersecurity, hybrid threats, and critical infrastructure, the panel explores how to build energy systems that are not only sustainable, but secure and resilient in an increasingly complex operational environment.

Speakers in this session:

  • Karoliina Joensuu, Elomatic | Panel host
  • Antti Nyqvist, General secretary of NESO Digipool
  • Aleksi Aho, Hybrid CoE
  • Mohamed Mahmoud, Gofore
  • Ismo Karttunen, 3Flames – Flamia Oy

A more complex energy future

Solar is no longer just about generation. It sits at the intersection of policy, markets, and security. Solar 2026 offers a focused look at how these dimensions come together and what they mean for the future of energy in Finland and in the Nordics.

Join the industry leaders, policymakers, and market experts at Solar 2026 to gain insights and generate new collaborations. The event will take place on 19 May 2026 at Restaurant Töölö, Helsinki.
