Meet the offshore wind industry in Finland
Wind Offshore 2026 gathers around 100 leading specialists from the offshore wind and marine industries in the heart of Helsinki on 26 March 2026. The event focuses on technical innovations and emerging opportunities shaping the future of offshore wind in Finland, attracting professionals from wind developers, turbine owners, contractors and subcontractors, marine and port operators, service providers as well as public sector and regulatory representatives.
The day features expert-led seminars and a cocktail reception, creating an intimate setting for knowledge exchange, networking, and meaningful discussions that drive the offshore wind sector forward.

Jonathan may be a familiar face to many within renewables in Finland, as he has been driving the renewable business at AFRY in various constellations for the past five years in both onshore and offshore as well as solar and BESS. He holds over 20 years of experience in management around Europe, with a current focus on continuing growth across all renewable technologies and services provided by AFRY. Jonathan has previously moderated Wind Finland in 2022.
Annina leads the offshore wind business at Metsähallitus, the Finnish state-owned enterprise responsible for tendering offshore wind projects within Finland’s territorial waters. She brings more than 15 years of experience in renewables and cleantech across both private and public sectors in the Nordics. Before joining Metsähallitus, Annina served as Managing Director for RWE Renewables Finland. Driven by a strong passion for accelerating the green transition, Annina is committed to advancing offshore wind and looks forward to seeing new wind farms take shape along Finland’s coast. Metsähallitus plays a critical role in enabling offshore wind in Finnish territorial waters through project development and offshore wind tendering. In her presentation, Annina will share the latest updates on Metsähallitus’ offshore wind project development.
Outi works as chief specialist at the renewable energy group of the energy department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. Her tasks include the implementation of the renewable energy directive and the promotion of offshore wind power. Outi holds the degree of Master of Science in Technology and has over ten years of experience in official duties in the energy sector.
Following the adaption of the Åland maritime spatial plan in 2021 the Government of Åland established the project Sunnanvind to enable establishment of offshore wind power in the northern territorial waters of Åland. Ralf has worked in the project from the start. Five years later a lot has happened locally, not to mention the global energy markets. The presentation aims to give an overview of current status and the steps forward to realize the significant production potential envisioned.
Anni is the CEO of the Finnish Wind Power Association since 2009. During her time the association and the importance of wind power in the Finnish energy sector have increased significantly. Anni is one of the leading wind power experts in Finland. She holds a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences (MSc) and in Corporate Environmental Management (M. Econ).
Gertjan is an experienced advisor with over 20 years in professional practice, including more than a decade in renewable energy and offshore wind. With a background in landscape architecture, he brings a holistic approach to energy development and regional planning. As a business developer at Haskoning in Finland, he drives strategic initiatives across the Baltic Sea region.
His presentation takes a deep dive into offshore wind development and outlines what it takes to succeed in today’s market, drawing on Haskoning’s international experience.
Riitta works at the forefront of Finland’s hydrogen economy, advancing national collaboration between industry, policymakers, and technology developers through the Finnish Hydrogen Cluster. She focuses on accelerating clean hydrogen deployment, strengthening ecosystem development, and supporting Finland’s role as a competitive, climate‑forward hydrogen leader. In her presentation, Riitta will outline hydrogen’s pivotal role in Finland’s energy transition and the vast opportunities the hydrogen economy offers for national competitiveness, climate goals, and security of supply. She will highlight why clean electricity is the foundation of a successful hydrogen ecosystem, and how offshore wind will be essential in enabling large‑scale green hydrogen production and unlocking long‑term economic benefits. Together, these forces shape a future where hydrogen strengthens Finland’s resilience and accelerates the shift to a carbon‑neutral society.
Juho works as an environmental specialist in Ramboll Finland’s ornithology team. Together with his colleagues, he focuses on integrating innovative monitoring tools – such as bird radar, cameras, and drones – into environmental assessments to better understand bird movements and their potential interactions with green energy projects.
Bird radar technology provides a cost-effective and reliable solution for addressing key data gaps in understanding bird movements over marine areas. By providing precise and scalable data both day and night, bird radars can reveal flight paths, migration intensity, and temporal patterns that are difficult to capture with traditional methods. Our presentation explores how bird radar can be used to improve impact assessments at sea and support better-informed planning and decision-making in offshore wind development.
Pekka has 20 years’ broad experience in strategy consulting in technology industries, renewables, international sales and R&D. Pekka is Ex-Partner at Gaia Consulting Oy (Sweco Finland Oy) in which he has been a director in various sustainable business development projects. Today, he is an independent strategy consultant.
In collaboration with companies, he has initiated in 2013 a business consortium which is at present called Team Renewable Arctic Finland, consisting of 21 companies in the area of offshore wind engineering and solutions, marine services and operation, special vessels, and port logistics. He has been the Project Director ever since.
At present Pekka is also a Professor of Practice at Aalto University Design Factory (product development). He is a member at the Finnish Academy of Technology and has been a Member of the Board in several institutions, companies and foundations. He is a member of the National Defence Courses’ Association.
He received his master’s and doctoral degrees at Aalto University with a major in material science (electronics) and a minor in management. He has been working at Finlux, California Institute of Technology, Planar International, Helvar, Technology Industries of Finland, Confederation of Finnish Industries, Eera Finland, and Gaia Consulting.
Esa and Pekka present their analyses and conclusions regarding the Finnish Offshore wind supply chain. They will define the peer structure with some selected examples from the perspective of international competition. They will also highlight some companies that cover a broad spectrum of various solutions, and which could be cornerstones for future success. Moreover, they propose concrete development areas for improving the Finnish supply chain’s position in international markets.
Luisa is a Manager in the Offshore Wind Team at the Carbon Trust, working across advisory delivery and programme streams. She has expertise in offshore wind markets, with a focus on technology, policy, and cost drivers, and deep experience in floating wind.
How do we accurately measure the carbon footprint of offshore wind? This presentation outlines why robust assessments matter for understanding and reducing lifecycle emissions and introduces industry-backed guidance developed through the Sustainability Joint Industry Programme (SUS JIP), which is helping to drive greater consistency, transparency, and credibility in offshore wind reporting.
Esa has over 30 years’ experience in wind power, having worked internationally both in technical specialist, project development, and business management positions. He’s been involved in Baltic Sea offshore wind projects since 2002 when the first feasibility studies for the pioneering Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm commenced. He is currently steering the offshore wind business development of Arenso Oy and supporting the pre-FID phase of the 800 MW Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm Extension project, which is targeting start of construction by 2030.
